NNA - Marking the first commemoration since the assassination of Martyr Wissam el-Hassan, the "Wissam el-Hassan Foundation" celebrated Sunday the curtain lifting off a memorial statue of Martyr Hassan situated at the entrance to his hometown, Btouratij, in the region of Koura.


In a eulogizing word in memory of Martyr Hassan, former Internal Security Chief, Major General Ashraf Rifi, outlined the important junctures in his life-time of sacrifices and devotion for the sake of preserving Lebanon against the hands of crime and strife.


"Martyr Hassan rescued Lebanon from major discord attempts, and those who assassinated him wished to eliminate the umbrella of safety and security over the nation," added Rifi.


The ceremony in Btouratij was attended by a wide number of political figures and prominent dignitaries who gathered to pay tribute to the memory of the late Martyr Hassan.
