(Update) President Joseph Aoun discusses general situation with Russian Ambassador, broaches developments with MP Abdel Massih, receives Lebanese Pilots’ Syndicate delegation

 NNA -  President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, on Monday received at Baabda Palace, Russian Ambassador to Lebanon, Alexander Rudakov, accompanied by a delegation from the embassy.

Discussions reportedly focused on the general situation and Lebanon's position regarding current political and security developments, as well as on the Lebanese-Russian relations and ways to develop them across various sectors.

The Russian ambassador expressed his country's readiness to assist Lebanon, particularly during the recovery phase initiated by the election of President Aoun and the formation of a new government.

President Aoun later received MP Adib Abdel Massih, who said that he discussed with the President the situation in south Lebanon in light of the repeated Israeli attacks, the most recent of which was yesterday's airstrike on the Beirut’s southern suburb.

Discussions also touched on the developmental and social needs related to the Koura region.

MP Abdel-Massih said: "I also discussed with His Excellency the President the economic situation and the outcomes of the Lebanese delegation's talks with the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund in Washington. I commended the way His Excellency the President is bringing the Lebanese together and implementing his inaugural speech, the contents of which we fully support."

This afternoon, President Aoun received at Baabda palace, a delegation from the Executive Board of the Lebanese Pilots’ Syndicate, headed by Captain Alain Johnny Dib.

 Delivering a word at the beginning of the meeting, Captain Dib outlined the challenges facing the Lebanese pilots in their work. Dib also expressed hope for the development of Lebanon’s aviation sector in a way that preserves its impressive history, the aviation safety, and the rights of pilots in accordance with applicable laws.

President Aoun, for his part, commended the discipline, commitment, and high professionalism of the Lebanese pilots, who demonstrated great courage during the recent Israeli war on Lebanon. Aoun also emphasized the state's determination to develop the country’s aviation sector in various fields, in line with the reform process of state institutions and the country’s recovery.
