Salam meets French Senate Delegation, North Bar Association, private sector network, and Harvard Alumni

NNA – Prime Minister, Nawaf Salam, on Monday held a series of meetings at the Grand Serail with visiting delegations from Lebanon and abroad.

Salam first met with a delegation from the French Senate’s international and Middle Eastern minority affairs group, headed by Étienne Blanc, currently on a regional tour. Talks focused on Lebanon’s situation, institutional operations, government-led reforms, and regional developments.

The Prime Minister later received the head of the North Bar Association, Sami Al-Hassan, accompanied by former deans and council members. Discussions addressed judicial independence, court and prison conditions, security concerns in Tripoli and northern Lebanon, and infrastructure projects, including Tripoli Port, the Free Economic Zone, and the René Moawad Airport.

Al-Hassan noted positive feedback from Salam on addressing administrative and financial issues, particularly regarding union deposits in Lebanese banks.

Salam also met with a delegation from the Lebanese Private Sector Network. Members presented a study reviewing oversight bodies such as the Court of Audit, Central Inspection, and Public Procurement Authority, with proposals to strengthen their effectiveness. The Prime Minister was invited to attend and sponsor a private sector initiative aimed at boosting job creation, scheduled for May 29, 2025.

Additionally, Salam welcomed a joint delegation from the Harvard Alumni Association and Harvard Business School Alumni, led by honorary president Dr. Habib Zoghbi. Discussions covered support initiatives for Lebanon’s recovery, including topics related to oil, transport, and financial reforms.
