NNA - Following its inscription on UNESCO’s World Heritage List, Minister of Culture Dr. Ghassan Salamé on Thursday issued a decree officially placing the Rashid Karami International Fair on Lebanon’s General Inventory of Historic Buildings, recognizing its exceptional architectural, historical, urban, and cultural significance.
The decision affirms the fairground’s national importance and provides it with an additional layer of protection under Lebanese heritage law. "No modifications to the current state of the Fair may be undertaken without prior approval from the Directorate General of Antiquities, including any proposed works or materials intended for use," the decree stipulates.
