NNA – President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, on Tuesday welcomed Speaker of the Federal National Council of the United Arab Emirates, Saqr Ghobash, who conveyed the UAE leadership’s support for Lebanon’s unity and stability.

Ghobash affirmed the commitment of UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to supporting Lebanon’s national cohesion and strengthening bilateral relations.

President Aoun, for his part, underscored the depth of Lebanese–UAE ties and expressed his anticipation for an upcoming visit to Abu Dhabi, during which he hopes to meet Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed and “open a new chapter in relations between the two countries.”

“The challenges we face are significant, foremost among them the task of reconstruction with the support of brotherly nations,” Aoun stated.

Moreover, Aoun also emphasized that “any contentious issue must be resolved through dialogue, and no one in Lebanon wants a return to war,” voicing optimism about “the presence of both determination and political will.”
