NNA - House Speaker Nabih Berri met today with Iranian Ambassador to Lebanon, Mojtaba Amani, who visited him at Ain al-Tineh Palace.

Discussions touched on the general political and field developments, and bilateral relations between the two countries.

The Speaker also received today former Prime Minister Najib Mikati on a well-wishing visit marking the Fitr Eid occasion.

In the afternoon, Speaker Berri met with the Director General of Public Security, Major General Hassan Choucair, with talks touching on the general security situation and field developments.

During the meeting, Berri contacted Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, expressing Lebanon’s gratitude for Iraq's assistance in supplying Lebanon with petroleum derivatives, in addition to providing 320,000 tons of wheat for free and hundreds of thousands of food rations, alongside its support in various other fields. Berri also appreciated brotherly Iraq’s hosting of tens of thousands of Lebanese during the recent Israeli aggression against Lebanon.

On another note, Berri apologized for not accepting Eid El-Fitr well-wishers due to the current situation in Lebanon and the region, as a result of Israel's continued attacks on Lebanon and its south, its continued violation of the ceasefire agreement and the provisions of Resolution 1701, and its continued extermination war against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.

He wished the Lebanese people in general, Muslims in particular, and the peoples of the Arab and Islamic nations a blessed Eid El-Fitr, asking God Almighty that the virtues of the holy month of Ramadan and the values of unity, compassion, solidarity, and cooperation for the benefit of the nation would prevail, and the hopes and aspirations of the people for stability, progress, security, and safety.
