NNA - House Speaker, Nabih Berri, on Friday received at the second presidency headquarters in Ain al-Tineh, the newly appointed State Security Director General Major General Edgar Lawandos, accompanied by the Deputy Director General, Brigadier General Murshid Hajj Suleiman, who paid him a protocol visit upon assuming his new duties.

The visit was an opportunity to review the country’s security and field situations.

Speaker Berri also received the newly appointed Governor of Lebanon’s Central Bank, Karim Souaid, who paid him an acquaintance visit following his appointment as governor of the central bank. The visit also provided an opportunity to discuss the country’s financial and economic situation.

This afternoon, Speaker Berri received Minister of Public Health, Dr. Rakan Nassereddine, with whom he discussed the general situation and political and field developments in light of Israeli escalating aggression today on several Lebanese regions in south Lebanon, Beirut’s southern suburbs and west Bekaa, as well as its violation of the terms of the ceasefire agreement and UN Resolution 1701.

Discussions also reportedly touched on issues related to the healthcare and hospitalization sectors in Lebanon and the role of the Ministry of Public Health.

 On the other hand, Speaker Berri received a congratulatory cable from former Iraqi Prime Minister, Dr. Iyad Allaw, on the occasion of the holy Eid Al-Fitr.
