NNA - National Defense Minister, Michel Menassa, on Wednesday received Army Commander, General Rodolphe Haykal, at his office in Yarzeh.

During the meeting, the discussion focused on the security developments in the country and the missions undertaken by the army to maintain security and stability throughout Lebanon, particularly along the southern and northeastern borders.

The challenges facing the military institution at the present stage were also addressed.

Minister Menassa also met with a delegation of military advisors representing the current member states of the Security Council. During the meeting, the current situation in the south and the role of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) were discussed, with emphasis on the importance of implementing Resolution 1701 and the ongoing preparations to renew UNIFIL's mandate next summer.

The Minister of Defense also discussed with MP Alain Aoun the latest developments in the country.
