Defense Minister meets UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon, UK Defense Senior Adviser, urges pressure on Israel to withdraw from five occupied hills and stop its violations of Lebanese sovereignty

NNA - National Defense Minister, Michel Menassa, on Wednesday met at his Yarzeh office, UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, with whom he discussed the existing cooperation between Lebanon and the United Nations in various fields.

Hennis-Plasschaert affirmed the United Nations' continued commitment to assisting Lebanon in all areas, particularly supporting the Lebanese Army, noting the close coordination between the army and UNIFIL.

Minister Menassa thanked Plasschaert for the international organization’s support to Lebanon, stressing the close cooperation between the army and UNIFIL to implement Resolution 1701, at a time the Israeli occupation persists in violating the UN resolution.

Menassa stressing "the need to pressure the Israeli occupation to implement the November agreement, withdraw from the five hills it still occupies, and halt its attacks and violations of Lebanese sovereignty."

On the other hand, the Minister of Defense received British Defense Ministry Senior Adviser for the Middle East, Admiral Edward Ahlgren, and an accompanying delegation.

Discussions focused on the current developments in Lebanon and the broad region, the situation in the south, and cooperation between the two countries, especially in the military field.

Admiral Ahlgren emphasized his country's readiness to complete the construction of border surveillance towers and to continue supporting Lebanon in all  fields.

Minister Menassa thanked Britain for its support to Lebanon, in general, and the army in particular.
