NNA - President of the Republic, Joseph Aoun, on Wednesday received a delegation from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) at Baabda Palace, led by Ernesto Ramirez Rigo, who outlined the IMF’s vision for Lebanon’s financial recovery. He emphasized the need for a unified financial reform plan coordinated between Lebanese institutions and the IMF to restore confidence in the country and accelerate economic recovery.  

In turn, President Aoun expressed appreciation for the IMF’s support, reaffirming Lebanon’s commitment to implementing necessary reforms, describing them as a national priority before being an international demand.

Later, President Aoun met with Ahmad Ismail, President of the Association for Specialization and Scientific Guidance, and a delegation from the organization. Ismail briefed him on the association’s work in supporting Lebanese youth through education and scholarships, which have benefited over 4,200 university students from various regions and backgrounds.  

Aoun praised the association’s efforts, emphasizing that intellectual capital is essential for Lebanon’s recovery alongside natural resource investment. He highlighted education as a pillar in rebuilding Lebanon’s global credibility, alongside financial and economic reforms needed for post-war reconstruction.  

A delegation from the Druze Sheikh Akl’s office and the community’s religious council also visited Baabda Palace. The delegation, which included Sheikh Judge Ghandi Makarem, Council Secretary Riad Najjar, and Director-General Mazen Fayad, conveyed Sheikh Sami Abi Al-Mona’s greetings and invited Aoun to attend the Druze Iftar gathering on March 21 in Verdun.  

Aoun also met with Central Inspection Authority President Judge George Attieh to discuss the ongoing work of the general inspectorates and oversight mechanisms within state institutions.  

Yesterday evening, President Aoun attended the annual Ramadan iftar hosted by Republican Guard Commander Brigadier General Bassam Helou at the Officers’ Club.
