NNA - Grand Mufti of the Republic, Sheikh Abdel Latif Derian, on Tuesday received Qatari Ambassador to Lebanon, Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, at Dar Al-Fatwa, where the envoy presented a $1.085 million contribution for the construction of the Imam Shafi'i Mosque and its annexes in Beirut’s Sanayeh district. 

This first installment, provided by Qatar’s Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, follows a previous $3 million donation.  

Ambassador Al Thani reaffirmed Qatar’s commitment to supporting Lebanon, while Mufti Derian expressed gratitude, emphasizing the mosque’s role as a center for worship and Islamic education. 

The funds were handed over to Director-General of Islamic Endowments Sheikh Mohammad Anis Al-Arwadi for immediate implementation.
