NNA - President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, stressed that “one of our first duties is to carry out the required reforms that contribute to changing some mentalities,” and said: “We will rebuild the new Lebanon, which is not impossible, and for that we must get out of the sectarian, religious and partisan narrow alleys for the sake of the country’s interest.”

President Aoun also stressed that “this matter requires fighting corruption and having an honest, non-politicized judiciary, with judges who rule justly according to their consciences.“  

President Aoun’s remarks came during his reception respectively, this morning at Baabda palace, of delegations from the Antonine Maronite Order and   from Notre Dame University-Louaize (NDU).

Both delegations offered congratulations to President Aoun on his presidential election.  

President Aoun also met with Deputy Prime Minister, Tarek Mitri, with whom he discussed the latest developments, with a particular focus on the situation in southern Lebanon.   

President Aoun later met with Lebanon’s Ambassador to the UAE, Fouad Chehab Dandan, with whom he discussed the situation of the Lebanese community in the UAE and bilateral relations between the two countries.
