NNA - President of the National Commission for Lebanese Women, First Lady Nehmat Aoun, arrived in New York this morning, Beirut time, heading a delegation to participate in the 69th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW69), which is being held at the United Nations headquarters in New York between March 10 & 21.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia chairs the 69th session that will include an overall discussion in the General Assembly, as well as discussion tables and interactive dialogues in which heads of delegations of UN member states will partake, along with representatives of international and regional organizations, civil society associations, experts and activists in the field of activating the women’s agenda in all its branches.
Lebanon's First Lady will be delivering a national statement and taking part in a series of bilateral meetings with heads of delegations and international organizations that are vital partners for Lebanon in general and the National Commission for Women in particular, in terms of preparing its programs and implementing its targeted projects in the areas of women empowerment, activating their pioneering role in society, and strengthening the effective partnership between the sexes in building nations in conjunction with the goals of the 2030 Sustainable Development Plan.
It is worth noting that the 69th session coincides with the global community’s celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women, which was held in Beijing in 1995 and issued the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action.
