Morcos honors journalists who covered the war on Lebanon

NNA - A Ramadan iftar was held on Monday evening at Olive Beirut in Al-Habtoor Hotel, Sin El Fil, honoring journalists who covered the war on Lebanon. Hosted by journalist Mohammad Bourji and restaurant owners Khaled and Jalal Ghiad, the event was attended by Information Minister, Paul Morcos, and former Minister, Ziad Makary.

Journalist Rana Astih praised reporters’ bravery in exposing the truth despite grave dangers, honoring fallen journalists such as Issam Abdullah, Rabih Maamari, and Farah Omar. Journalist Mohammad Al-Janoun affirmed that the press remains steadfast, undeterred by threats. Media figure Rabia Al-Zayyat called for unity, highlighting journalists' dedication despite political divisions.

For his part, Minister Makary commended Lebanese media for their professionalism during the war, stressing that while politicians remained divided, journalists from various outlets stood together, often risking their lives. He also urged Minister Morcos to continue protecting the press and advancing Lebanon’s media sector.

In turn, Minister Morcos vowed to support journalists with legal and institutional backing, emphasizing their crucial role in defending truth. He underscored the importance of strengthening state media, including Télé Liban, and ensuring journalists receive the recognition and protection they deserve.
