Salam, Bar Association Chief broach judicial and financial reforms

NNA – Prime Minister, Nawaf Salam, on Thursday met with Beirut Bar Association President, Fadi Masri, who congratulated him on assuming office and securing Parliament’s confidence.

Masri reaffirmed the association’s commitment to supporting the government in its reform and rescue efforts.

Masri then emphasized the need to restore judicial functionality, expedite key cases—including the Beirut Port explosion probe —and uphold Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. He also stressed the importance of judicial appointments to end the current paralysis in the judiciary.

On the financial front, Masri underscored the necessity of restructuring the banking sector, ensuring accountability for Lebanon’s economic collapse, and formulating legislation to safeguard and recover depositors' funds. He reaffirmed the Bar Association’s ongoing legal battle to uncover the truth behind the financial crisis, distribute responsibilities, and establish a modern, transparent banking framework that adheres to international standards.

PM Salam also met with AUB President Dr. Fadlo Khuri, who reiterated the university’s readiness to support Lebanon through its academic and medical institutions. He emphasized the importance of sustained collaboration with the government for national progress.

Additionally, the PM welcomed delegations from Dar Al-Aytam Al-Islamiyah and the Zakat Fund, who invited him to attend their upcoming Ramadan iftars.

Dar Al-Aytam’s event is scheduled for March 18 at Seaside Arena, while the Zakat Fund’s iftar will take place on March 7 at Biel.
