Salam holds diplomatic, security, and human rights meetings at Grand Serail

NNA - Caretaker Prime Minister, Nawaf Salam, on Wednesday held a series of meetings at the Grand Serail, engaging in discussions on political, diplomatic, security, and human rights matters.

Salam welcomed former Prime Minister Hassan Diab, who congratulated him on forming the new government and wished him success. The two reviewed the latest political developments.

The Prime Minister met with Foreign Minister Youssef Raji, with whom he discussed issues related to the Foreign Ministry.

Salam also received Russian Ambassador to Lebanon, Alexander Rudakov, who conveyed a congratulatory message from Russian Prime Minister, Mikhail Mishustin.

Discussions focused on bilateral relations and ways to enhance cooperation.

The Prime Minister later held talks with Acting Director General of General Security, Major General Elias Baisari, to assess the country's security situation.

Salam later met with a delegation from the National Commission for the Missing and Forcibly Disappeared, led by Dr. Ziad Achour, in the presence of Cabinet Secretary-General Judge Mahmoud Makieh.

Following the meeting, Achour stated: "With the 50th anniversary of the Lebanese Civil War approaching, we presented a memorandum to the Prime Minister concerning the missing and forcibly disappeared, including around 700 individuals believed to have been lost or detained in Syria. We urged him to issue urgent decrees to ensure the commission’s continued work beyond its mandate, which expires on July 3, 2025."
