Public Works Minister discusses $250 million World Bank emergency aid for Lebanon’s reconstruction

NNA – Minister of Public Works and Transport, Fayez Rasamny, on Monday met with a delegation from the World Bank, led by Alex Madeline, with whom he discussed the $250 million emergency aid package aimed at Lebanon’s reconstruction.

The loan is intended to support debris removal, infrastructure rehabilitation, and reconstruction efforts, as well as provide assistance for the restoration of damaged facilities, excluding new construction projects.

During the meeting, Rasamny emphasized that reconstruction remained a national priority, with efforts closely coordinated between the ministry, relevant government bodies, and the World Bank.

"We have agreed on the key pillars of the emergency aid project and reviewed the technical, scientific, and legal criteria involved," Rasamny stated.

Discussions also covered findings from recent World Bank meetings with stakeholders, including recommendations and preliminary plans for infrastructure recovery.

"We have reviewed the outcomes of the World Bank's discussions with concerned parties and the contents of the preliminary reconstruction report.

Once finalized, it will be submitted to the World Bank’s management," Rasamny added.
