NNA - President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, on Monday emphasized the government's commitment to implementing reforms and ensuring the country's stability during a meeting with a delegation from the Editors' Syndicate, led by its president, Joseph Qusayfi.
"We are working with the government to find solutions in line with the principles outlined in the inaugural speech, to set the country on the right track," Aoun stated. Aoun underscored that "reconstruction is contingent upon reforms, and no external assistance will be provided without them."
Regarding post-conflict recovery, Aoun assured that "the reconstruction process will include all affected areas, and we welcome any assistance in addressing the consequences of war."
Turning to security concerns, the president said, "The Israeli enemy cannot be trusted, and we fear that tomorrow’s withdrawal may not be complete.”
However, the President affirmed that "Lebanon’s response will be a unified national stance."
Aoun finally reaffirmed his preference for diplomacy over conflict.
“War is not a viable option. We will pursue diplomatic means because Lebanon cannot endure another war,” the President said, confirming that the Lebanese Army is prepared to deploy in villages and towns from which Israeli forces withdraw.
On the issue of Hezbollah’s weapons, Aoun stated that "the priority is ensuring Israel’s withdrawal. The question of Hezbollah’s arms will be addressed through solutions agreed upon by the Lebanese people."
