NNA - In a formal handover ceremony at the Ministry of Information, former Minister Ziad Makary passed the baton to his successor, Dr. Paul Morcos, in the presence of Director-General Dr. Hassan Falha and ministry officials.
In his address, Makary expressed gratitude for the collaboration during his tenure, emphasizing the importance of continuity and teamwork in the ministry’s success.
"The Ministry of Information is a home for all media professionals," Makary stated, commending Morcos for his dedication to governance and continuity.
"We share the same vision—ensuring the stability of projects and the continuity of management. Minister Morcos’s approach aligns with ours, which I believe will reassure all stakeholders,” Makary said, highlighting key initiatives during his term, particularly the importance of stabilizing ministry employees and pushing forward with the long-awaited media law reform.
"Lebanon's media deserves modern legislation that reflects our values and the aspirations of future generations," Makary added.
The former Information Minister further praised Lebanon’s national television for its resilience and progress, urging Morcos to continue its development.
In his remarks, Morcos thanked Makary for his leadership and vowed to build on the progress made.
"We will continue from where you left off, adapting to the country's challenges while focusing on reform and development," Morcos affirmed.
The newly appointed Information Minister also emphasized the need for unity and internal cohesion within Lebanon's media institutions, particularly TV Lebanon and the National News Agency, as a foundation for future success.
Morcos also outlined his commitment to maintaining the gains of the ministry, stressing the importance of improving internal operations and securing external funding.
"Our focus will be on preservation, reform, and development," Morcos concluded, emphasizing the urgent need for modernization to ensure the sector’s sustainability.
Dr. Hassan Falha, the Information Ministry’s Director-General, expressed his deep appreciation for Makary’s leadership, noting that despite the difficult circumstances during his tenure, the ministry’s staff showed immense dedication.
“These years of hardship proved the Ministry’s capability to overcome challenges and provide essential services. We are grateful for your guidance, Minister Makary, and look forward to continuing this journey with Minister Morcos, with a commitment to humanizing our work and ensuring justice for all employees,” Falha said.
