NNA - President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, on Wednesday confirmed ongoing consultations with Prime Minister-designate, Nawaf Salam, stressing the urgent need to form a government that adheres to agreed principles and standards.
"I hope we are nearing the final stages of this process," President Aoun said, adding that Lebanon faces numerous opportunities, with many countries ready to offer assistance, contingent on government formation.
Aoun made his comments during a meeting at Baabda Palace with Dr. Faisal Sinno, President of the Lebanese Islamic Makassed Association, who congratulated him on his election.
Sinno emphasized Lebanon’s need for urgent solutions, noting the country is not bankrupt but suffers from mismanagement, making government formation essential for rebuilding the state.
In turn, the President reaffirmed that the responsibility for Lebanon’s recovery was shared by all, not just the president or prime minister alone. He expressed hope that most of the challenges to government formation had been resolved and underscored the importance of justice and dignity for all Lebanese citizens.
Additionally, Aoun met with Hani Shmeitily, the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at Baabda Palace.
