NNA – President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, on Monday met at Baabda Palace with the head and members of the State Council.
“Be independent and judge fairly,” Aoun told his visitors.
“As an administrative judiciary, you are asked to protect the rights of the state and those of the citizens alike,” he said. “Do not be affected by rumors and slander campaigns,” he added. “Let your decision satisfy your conscience and not anybody,” he underlined.
President Aoun also received at Baabda palace MP Ahmed al-Khair, who congratulated him on his election as President of the Republic.
Discussions reportedly touched on the general situation and the ongoing contacts to form the new government.
The discussion also covered the needs of the Minieh- Dinnieh district and the North on the social and developmental levels.
On the other hand, President Aoun received a letter of support from the President of Switzerland, Karin Keller-Sutter, in which she congratulated him on his election and stressed the importance of the Lebanese-Swiss relations.
The Swiss President also underlined willingness to help reconstruct Lebanon and enact reforms.
The letter was handed over to President Aoun by Swiss Ambassador to Lebanon, Marion Weichelt, whom he met at Baabda Palace on Monday.
