NNA - President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, received this afternoon at Baabda Palace, Head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) delegation in Lebanon, Simone Casabianca-Aeschlimann, who paid him a farewell visit upon the end of her mission in Lebanon and introduced her successor, Agnes Dhur.

The political advisor to the mission, Shawky Amine Eddine, was also present.

During the meeting, President Aoun thanked the outgoing Head of Delegation for the efforts she made during her tenure in Lebanon, particularly in the difficult circumstances the country went through. Aoun also appreciated the sacrifices made by the ICRC Delegation staff to achieve the goals and tasks of the International Committee of the Red Cross.

The President also welcomed the new ICRC Delegation Head Dhur, wishing her success in her new duties.

Aeschlimann  briefed the President on the work carried out by the mission in recent months during the Israeli aggression on Lebanon, stressing the ICRC’s readiness to continue carrying out its full humanitarian mission in the country.

Separately, President Aoun welcomed at Baabda palace former Minister Damianos Kattar, with whom he broached the current general situation and the latest developments in the country.
