NNA - Prime Minister-designate, Nawaf Salam, on Thursday welcomed United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi, and his accompanying delegation at his residence in Qoreitem.
Discussions reportedly focused on the latest developments in Lebanon and the region, with a particular emphasis on the need for intensified cooperation to ensure the safe and dignified return of Syrian refugees to their home country, in light of recent political shifts.
Prime Minister Salam also received a congratulatory call from Canadian Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly, whose country currently chairs the G7.
Joly expressed her well-wishes and emphasized Canada’s commitment to rallying global efforts to meet Lebanon’s needs, particularly in areas of reconstruction and increasing support for the Lebanese Armed Forces.
