NNA - President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, on Tuesday received former President, Amine Gemayel, at Baabda presidential palace, with whom he broached the developments on the Lebanese arena.

Gemayel congratulated President Aoun on his election as head of the Lebanese state.

"President Aoun will be up to the responsibility, and he has the fundamental role in saving the country and pulling it out of its crisis. We consider his election a salvation for our country."

Gemayel also called for "the solidarity of all the Lebanese people with the President of the Republic in the rescue mission."

President Aoun also received at Baabda palace with former MP Bahia Hariri, who congratulated the President on his election as president of the republic.

Former MP Hariri conveyed the congratulations of former PM Saad Hariri to President Aoun, wishing him success in his duties, in light of the critical circumstances that Lebanon is going through.

Discussions during the meeting reportedly touched on the country’s general situation and the needs of the Sidon region.

On the other hand, President Aoun made a phone call to Professor Ismat Ghanem, who returned to Lebanon after being appointed the first non-French president of the French Society of Pediatric Orthopedics. Aoun hailed Professor Ghanem’s accomplishment and wished him success in his new responsibilities.
