NNA - Under the patronage of Caretaker Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, Minister of Culture, Mohammad Wissam Mortada, hosted a ceremony in Tripoli honoring contributors to the city’s designation as the Arab Capital of Culture 2024.
Held at the Rachid Karami International Fair, the event was attended by northern religious leaders, MPs, and community figures.
In a recorded speech, PM Mikati praised the minister's dedication to highlighting Tripoli’s cultural significance, despite national challenges. He emphasized Tripoli’s enduring role as a beacon of knowledge and called for unity to support its growth.
Minister Mortada celebrated Tripoli’s historic cultural legacy, emphasizing its resilience and hospitality, even during adversity. He also announced plans for a museum showcasing the city’s heritage and a new Arabic Language Academy in honor of Tripoli's cultural role.
The ceremony featured speeches, a documentary, and the distribution of awards to key contributors. Minister Mortada, in turn, received several tokens of appreciation for his efforts. He concluded by underscoring the importance of unity and cultural development for Tripoli and Lebanon.
The event highlighted Tripoli’s vibrant culture and reaffirmed its title as a hub of Arab and Lebanese heritage.
