NNA - The French Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued the following statement, congratulating Prime Minister-designate Nawaf Salam: 

"France extends its warm congratulations to Mr. Nawaf Salam on his appointment as Prime Minister of the Lebanese Republic following the parliamentary consultations held on January 13. France wishes him full success in carrying out his mission during this historic moment for Lebanon. Following the election of President Joseph Aoun last week, this appointment provides new hope for Lebanon and its people. 

France hopes for the swift formation of a strong government capable of uniting Lebanon in all its diversity and implementing the essential reforms needed for the country’s recovery. Such reforms are crucial to restoring prosperity to the Lebanese people and reestablishing security and sovereignty across Lebanon’s territory. 

The Lebanese Prime Minister can count on France’s full support in his duties, for the benefit of all the Lebanese people," the statement concluded.
