NNA - House Speaker, Nabih Berri, on Friday welcomed Caretaker Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, Abdallah Bou Habib, at the second presidency headquarters in Ain el-Tineh.
The meeting focused on general conditions, political communications, and field developments, particularly in light of Israel's continued aggression on Lebanon, especially in the southern border villages with occupied Palestine and Gaza.
Following the meeting, Minister Bou Habib said, "I always visit Speaker Berri to discuss important issues concerning the country as a whole. His Excellency is a cornerstone in the state, possessing wisdom and expertise in foreign affairs." "Today, we discussed the French role, its importance, and the necessity for France to remain present. Today, they have an initiative with many good and acceptable points, but there are aspects that require further examination,” Bou Habib explained.
“I’ve delivered the state's message to the French ambassador today, and of course, Prime Minister Mikati and Speaker Berri are informed. We hope that this initiative continues, as the French think in the same manner and seek to continue and complete this initiative. It is important for us to reach an agreement that provides full and permanent stability to the southern borders."
Additionally, Berri welcomed Caretaker Minister of Industry, George Boujikian, with whom he discussed the country’s general conditions, political and field developments, and matters related to the industrial sector.
On another note, Berri received a telegram from the Speaker of the Syrian People's Council, Hammouda Sabbagh, congratulating him on the occasion of the blessed month of Ramadan.
