NNA - Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati on Wednesday deprecated comments by the spokeswoman of India's ruling party, in which she insulted Prophet Muhammad.

"These Islamophobic remarks endanger the protection of human rights and stoke a cycle of violence and hatred," Mikati said, warning against the increasing pressure on religious freedoms.

"We are certain that the Indian government will condemn these statements immediately," he added.
