Future bloc cleaves to dissociation policy, touts cabinet that limits losses

NNA - The Future Parliamentary bloc on Wednesday demonstrated stanch commitment to Lebanon's dissociation policy from neighboring developments and pushed for the formation of a cabinet that's capable of bringing internal political conflicts to a halt by means of mitigating losses and damages.

The Future bloc's statement came in the wake of its weekly session under the chairmanship of Former Prime Minister Fouad Siniora.

The bloc vehemently condemned yesterday's Haret Hreik blast and offered its heartfelt condolences to the families of the blast victims. Future MPs also mourned the loss of innocent lives in Arsal and Hermel "at the hands of treachery and terror."

"The Future bloc demands a comprehensive and transparent investigation into these non-humanitarian crimes," the statement read, adding that the Lebanese could no longer bear the pressure accompanied by the Syrian calamity.

"Lebanon will never regain a normal pace of life as long as Hezbollah goes on in its destructive and tragic war in Syria, and keeps ignoring national consensus and coexistence," the statement added.

Moreover, the Future bloc asserted that it has reconsidered its participation in the coming cabinet in light of Hezbollah's softening stance concerning the third veto power and giving back the Lebanese President and Prime Minister their constitutional prerogatives to form a cabinet, as well as a fair rotation of portfolios.

In its statement, the Future bloc also reiterated its unyielding stance regarding the new cabinet.

"We utterly refuse the so-called third veto power," the statement read, to mention as well the bloc's stanch refusal of having the tripartite people-Army-Resistance formula be included in the new cabinet's ministerial statement.

"The Future bloc also considers Israel Lebanon's ultimate enemy," conferees agreed, highlighting the importance of fully implementing International Security Resolution #1701.

The bloc also stressed that the new cabinet's statement has to demonstrate commitment to Baabda declaration, as well as full and comprehensive rotation of cabinet portfolios.

As for the Special Tribunal for Lebanon's trail proceedings in The Hague, the Future bloc sounded startled with the crime evidence that the tribunal had shared with the public thus far.

"The launch of the STL sessions and the facts that are being shared with the public opinion are an evident proof that the times of impunity are over and done with. Criminals should be aware of the fact that they will never get away with their heinous acts and that their punishment is inevitable," the statement added.
