NNA - Prime Minister-Designate, Tamam Salam, pledged Sunday before the Nehmeh landfill follow-up committee that he shall work on forming an emergency body to deal with the landfill problem as soon as he takes over the executive authority.
The committee delegation visited Salam at his Mseitbeh residence earlier Sunday evening, presenting him with a detailed overview of the sufferings and health problems incurred as a result of said landfill.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation following the meeting, Environmental Movement Member, Attorney Walid Kadi, disclosed that they agreed to re-open the road to the Nehmeh landfill for 48 hours while keeping the sit-in tents at the entrance. He noted that this move comes in a bid to make way for PM-designate Salam to find a radical solution to closing down the landfill.
Kadi wished Salam success in his efforts to find a solution to the problem at stake, while expressing all readiness to extend an aiding hand in this respect.
