NNA - Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea refused any attempt to amend the Taif accord, warning that this step would throw Lebanon to the unknown.
Geagea, who was speaking to Dubai TV, cautioned that those seeking to alter Taif accord will be committing fatal mistakes.
Geagea was responding to MP Walid Jumblatt's initiative to amend the Taif accord in exchange of finding a final solution to the weapons of Hezbollah.
"This ( Jumblatt's proposal) proves once again that these weapons are not designed for resistance purposes because arms of the resistance should not be involved in internal affairs nor used to alter domestic formulas," he argued.
Geagea reiterated that March 14 will not amend the constitution under the threat of arms.
"After 15 years of war the Lebanese have finally agreed on the Taif accord and it will be a mistake to tamper with this it."
Geagea also insisted that there won't be any political life in the country amid the existence of the killing machine. Assassinations and political murder should come to an end before discussing any new political life.
Commenting on the ongoing war in Syria, Geagea predicted the imminent fall of Syrian president Bashar Assad's regime.
But the commander of the Lebanese Forces admitted that the lack of an international will to end the crisis in Syria has allowed Assad to survive longer.
He explicitly blamed Russia and China for the longevity of Assad's regime.
Geagea also pinned high hopes on the International Tribunal for Lebanon, suggesting that Hezbollah refused to cooperate with the tribunal to clear its name from the charges that were leveled against it.
He wondered why all the assassination and assassination attempts have targeted March 14 political figures, insisting that the International Tribunal has more than 100 judges and investigators from 30 neutral countries and for this reason it would be wrong to question its integrity.
Geagea added that he was not the only political figure who accused Syria of assassinating Brigadier General Wissam al Hasan.
He accused Hezbollah again of serving the vital interest of Iran and Syria in the region.
Geagea added that the entire Lebanese intelligence in addition to the powerful security system of Hezbollah could not produce a shred of evidence that Israel was behind all the assassinations that took place since 2005.
He also argued that Hezbollah has no intention to be part of the state nor coordinate with the Lebanese army and security forces.
Geagea dismissed the fear by some Christians that their existence will be threatened if the regime of Assad falls in Syria.
He also refused allegations that Future movement is arming the Sunnis in Lebanon or supplying weapons to the opposition in Syria.
Geagea expressed confidence that March 14 forces will win the parliamentary elections in 2013.
He also refused accusations that the Lebanese Forces are nothing but collaborators to Israel, adding that some Lebanese sides were compelled to get arms from Israel during the war to defend their existence.
