NNA - Arab Youth and Sports 36th Conference opened its works Saturday at the Phoenicia Hotel in Beirut.


The 2-day Conference comes in support of the Arab Sports Tournament scheduled to take place in Beirut in the year 2015. Around 15 Arab Ministers attended the opening session, with the absence of Syria's representatives due to suspension of its membership in the Arab League.


In his word at the sidelines of the Conference, Caretaking Youth and Sports Minister, Faisal Karameh, welcomed the Arab participants in their second country, Lebanon. "The presence of Arab brethrens at this occasion and under the current circumstances is of great significance, both at the political and youth sports levels," said Karameh.


Karameh indicated that preparations are currently underway for hosting the Arab Sports Tournament, with intensive efforts exerted by the Youth and Sports Ministry team and with huge Arab support. He expressed gratitude to Arab brethrens for making this event possible, highlighting herein the significant presence of Saudi Minister, Prince Nawaf ben Faisal, who currently heads the Arab National Committees' Union for Youth Sports.
