NNA - House Speaker Nabih Berri received this afternoon at Ain al-Tineh Palace, Deputy US Special Envoy to the Middle East Morgan Ortagus and her accompanying delegation, in the presence of US Ambassador Lisa Johnson and the Speaker's media advisor Ali Hamdan.
The meeting, which lasted for more than an hour and a third and included a closed session between Berri and Ortagus, addressed the prevailing situation and developments on the ground related to the Israeli violations and attacks on Lebanon, causing daily casualties, in breach of the ceasefire agreement and UN Resolution 1701.
Talks also touched on the desired reforms on several levels, particularly in the financial, economic, and administrative sectors.
The Speaker provided the US envoy with a list of 18 reform laws passed by Parliament, which is still awaiting other reform bills, including those for restructuring banks, banking secrecy, and administrative reform, particularly the Council for Development and Reconstruction.
Berri described the meeting as "good and constructive".
The Speaker later followed up on political developments and legislative affairs during his meeting with "Loyalty to the Resistance" bloc member, MP Amin Sherri, in the presence of "Development and Liberation" bloc member, MP Mohammed Khawaja.
