Salam reaffirms support for southern border villages

NNA - Prime Minister, Nawaf Salam, on Friday hailed the residents of southern border villages for their steadfastness during a meeting with a delegation of municipal leaders.

Salam expressed solidarity with the villagers, promising state support to help them remain in their homes and rebuild their destroyed properties, ensuring no one is left behind.

The PM further emphasized Lebanon's ongoing efforts to end Israeli occupation in southern Lebanon and outlined the government's reconstruction plan, which begins with infrastructure repairs including roads, water, electricity, and communication services. He revealed a fair rebuilding strategy, developed in collaboration with the World Bank.

Moreover, the PM highlighted three key issues for the south: equitable aid distribution, ensuring security and stability, and the timely execution of municipal elections.

Dr. Qassem al-Qadiri, Mayor of Kfarchouba, representing the delegation, stressed the dire conditions in the border villages, citing a lack of basic services and delayed compensation. He called for urgent support in rebuilding essential infrastructure and services. He also emphasized the need for a liaison coordinator for the border villages between ministries and security forces.
