NNA - President of the Republic, Joseph Aoun, on Friday chaired a security meeting at Baabda Palace attended by Army Commander General Rodolphe Haykal, Internal Security Forces Director General Major General Raed Abdullah, General Security Director General Major General Hassan Choukeir, and State Security Director General Major General Edgar Lawandos.
President Aoun congratulated the four security chiefs on their appointment and assuming their responsibilities, and provided them with his directives to take appropriate measures to maintain security and stability across all Lebanese regions.
On the other hand, President Aoun received at Baabda palace, MP Firas Hamdan, who said that he discussed with the President the current situation in the south, in light of the ongoing Israeli attacks.
MP Hamden also stressed the importance of accompanying the new mandate with judicial, administrative, and financial reforms.
On the situation in the south, MP Hamden stressed the need to ensure stability and the state's role in extending sovereignty and defending the homeland.
President Aoun later received Head of the House Committee of Administration and Justice, MP George Adwan.
Additionally, President Aoun met with Talal Daher, Chargé d’Affaires at the Lebanese Embassy in Damascus, with whom he discussed the current state of Lebanese-Syrian relations and avenues for enhancing bilateral cooperation.
