NNA – Minister of Public Health, Dr. Rakan Nassereddine, and Minister of Labor, Dr. Mohammad Haidar, on Tuesday held a joint meeting at the Ministry of Health, bringing together Director General of the Civil Servants’ Cooperative Nazih Hammoud, representatives of civil and military insurance bodies, the National Social Security Fund, and medical divisions of the Lebanese Army, Internal Security Forces, General Security, and State Security.
The meeting focused on coordinating efforts in hospitalization and pharmaceuticals to ensure optimal medical services with efficiency and quality. Discussions also covered ways to build on the joint experience of 2024, particularly in unified drug procurement, digitalization, and medical protocols, while maintaining the independence of each insurance entity.
In response to concerns raised by various insurance bodies, Minister Nassereddine stated that he would coordinate with the Ministry of Finance to prioritize payments for the healthcare sector. He also emphasized the ministry’s commitment to ongoing collaboration through regular coordination meetings, expressing hope that this phase would reflect a positive shift in the country and contribute to improving public health services.
Minister Mohammad Haidar underscored the constructive cooperation between the Ministry of Health as the overseeing health authority and the National Social Security Fund as an independent entity serving a large segment of the Lebanese population, striving to provide the best possible healthcare services.
