NNA - The United Nations is seeking to increase the flow of humanitarian aid to Myanmar from Bangladesh to help Rohingya refugees return home, Secretary-General António Guterres announced in Dhaka on Saturday, according to Agence France-Presse.
"We must increase the flow of humanitarian aid into Myanmar to create the conditions necessary for their return," Guterres said at a press conference at the end of a visit to Dhaka.
The UN Secretary-General's remarks come as the World Food Programme announced that aid to more than a million people in Burma will be cut off starting in April due to a lack of funding.
The UN agency is also threatening to cut its food rations for Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh by half by next month, for the same reasons.
