Italian Foreign Minister in Israel and Palestinian Territories on Monday

NNA - The office of Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani announced on Sunday that he will visit Israel and the Palestinian territories on Monday, the day after the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip between the Hebrew state and Hamas went into effect.

A statement said that Antonio Tajani will travel on Monday "to Israel and Palestine" to meet with Israeli President Isaac Herzog, Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar, and Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammed Mustafa.

Tajani announced that "the entry into force of the ceasefire provides a historic opportunity for the Israeli and Palestinian peoples and the entire region."

He added, "I will confirm to the Israeli and Palestinian authorities the commitment of the Italian government to improve the conditions of (...) civilians who have suffered greatly."

He continued, "Our humanitarian assistance will continue and will be strengthened."

Tajani intends to emphasize the "interest" that Italy attaches to "the reconstruction of Gaza after the war."

He will also co-chair a meeting with business circles with Sa'ar "to present investment opportunities between the two countries, as part of economic diplomacy initiatives."

The Italian minister stressed that "investments made not only in Israel but throughout the region will help stabilize it."
