NNA - Russia said on Friday that international sanctions on North Korea represent an obstacle to promoting dialogue and peace on the peninsula, considering that they have not helped improve regional security, according to Agence France-Presse.

Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said in a statement, “Over the years, international restrictive measures have not helped improve the security situation in the region. On the contrary, in the absence of mechanisms to review sanctions measures in a mitigated manner, this tool remains a dangerous nuisance that hinders confidence-building and dialogue.”
