NNA - Caretaker Ministers of Telecommunications and Education, Nicolas Sehnaoui and Hassan Diab, launched on Friday the first phase of the project "Open Your Tomorrow" or "digital shelves within the reach of young people," during a ceremony at Monroe hotel, Beirut.
This project marks the beginning of a new digital era in education, and is in collaboration between the Ministries of Telecommunications and Education, BDL, Blom Bank, mobile phone companies Alfa and Touch, Lebanon Post, and Intel and Triple C companies.
The first step is to provide school students with tablets equipped with 3G technology and educational programs, at discounted prices.
In his delivered word, Diab said, "this project aims to provide 15,000 digital tablets, including 1,500 that would be distributed for free to students in public schools."
He added that the training sessions will be organized to familiarize the teachers of these schools with this new technology.
Sehnaoui, for his part, stressed that the role of the ministry is to make Lebanon a regional digital platform.
