NNA – Caretaker Minister of Public Works and Transportation, Ali Hamieh, on Wednesday held a meeting with Head of the General Labor Confederation (GLC), Bechara Al-Asmar, Beirut Port Union Head Khalil Zouaiter, and sectoral union’s head, George Harb.

During the meeting, they discussed the situation of the port of Beirut and Minister Hamieh's relentless follow-up and support through seeking to activate and develop the Port’s work, based on the principle of ensuring permanent follow-up of its work.

Minister Hamieh affirmed in this context that the development of the Port’s work will reflect positively on the Port’s employees.

The delegation called on the minister to continue this support and working  to secure the rights of employees within the collective labor contract, especially with regard to wages and urgent and necessary social benefits in these economic conditions that the country is going through.
