Salam on Independence anniversary: grave danger awaits Lebanon if violence defeats dialogue

NNA - Prime Minister-Designate Tammam Salam said that disagreement over national constants led to unprecedented tension in political speech, which in turn paralyzed the constitutional institutions, warning that latest security explosions reflected the dangerous scene that awaits Lebanon "if violence defeated political dialogue and national agreement language."

He stressed that the mechanisms of the Lebanese democratic parliamentary regime, as stated by the constitution, are the framework of the political life and the only reference for national work.

Salam added that any attempt to deal with our crisis that would have negative repercussions on Lebanon if not based on our constitutional rules.

He said, "we have to prove, as we did before, that we deserve this independence which we celebrate today its 70th anniversary; and this demands from all an ethical, political, national responsibility towards Lebanon and the Lebanese represented in fortifying the country and sparing it dangerous falls."

Salam congratulated the Lebanese, mainly the Army and the security apparatuses on Independence Day.

On other note, Salam welcomed new Qatari Ambassador to Lebanon Ali Ben Hamad Al-Marri and the Chargé d'Affaires Ali Ibrahim Al-Maliki in an acquaintance visit. Discussions featured high on general issues and developments.
