LAF navy handed over boat intercepted by UNIFIL naval force with 32 Syrians, one Lebanese aboard heading to Cyprus

NNA - The Lebanese Army Command - Orientation Directorate - issued on Friday the following statement:

"Today, the LAF Navy received from the United Nations naval force a boat carrying 32 people of Syrian nationality and one Lebanese heading to Cyprus illegally. The UNIFIL intercepted them at sea, outside the Lebanese territorial waters, opposite the city of Tripoli.

Teams of the military medical corps, with the participation of the Lebanese Red Cross, worked on examining the people aboard. Investigations were initiated under the supervision of the competent judiciary."
