NNA - Inspection Unit at Rafic Hariri International Airport thwarted on Oct 10, 2013, a smuggling operation of an estimated 5 kg of narcotic pills 'Captagon', Internal Security Forces Directorate General-Public Relations Department said in a communiqué.



The seized Captagon was in the possession of an Egyptian traveler who attempted to smuggle said amount outside the Lebanese territories.



As a result of follow-up process, Inspection unit managed to arrest his two partners- one Egyptian and another Syrian- who were observing the smuggling operation from outside the airport and tried afterwards to flee in a "Nissan Sunny" car.



After interrogation, the arrested persons admitted what has been attributed to them and thus referred them- along with the confiscated stuff- to the Central Drug Combating Bureau for further investigations.
