NNA - Maronite bishops expressed, at their monthly meeting in Bkirki headed by Maronite Patriarch Mar Bechara Boutros Rahi, disappointment over the inability of political leaders to reach a consent over the formation of a government that brings all the Lebanese together, faces the serious challenges and contributes to taking the country out of the political and economic stagnation and the rampant illegal weapons issue.
The Bishops warned of "reaching a stage where constitutional principles fall for the sake of political polarization."
They also said they were sorry about the transformation of the Chamber of Deputies into a place to settle political scores, arguing that "this worries the Lebanese and disrupts Lebanon's role and mission in this region."
The Bishops expressed sorrow over the ongoing fighting in Tripoli, saying "the events in the city are just a filter for the conflicting regional and international accounts."
They also welcomed the security plan launched by the Army and the security forces in the capital of the North.
