NNA - MP Ibrahim Kanaan highlighted the necessity of separating legislation from political alignments, especially that there are many pending files, relevant to ameliorating the local economic condition, worth to be approved.
The Bloc of Reform and Change on Tuesday convened under the chairmanship of General Michel Aoun, with MP Kanaan reading the outcome of the meeting, at Aoun's residence in Rabieh.
"We discussed legislative priorities, like the file pertaining to coastal electricity line and the oil dossier that is still pending at the cabinet," said Kanaan, who underscored the necessity for the government to convene over these national, non-political issues.
Afterwards, Caretaker Justice Minister, Shakib Cortbawi, broached the missing Lebanese people issue, saying, "It is a priority that is mentioned in the ministerial statement by us." He explained that the Justice Ministry sent a law draft for setting up an independent committee for the missing people, because "we need an independent apparatus to follow up on the matter."
MP Hikmat Dib also spoke about the afore-mentioned file, calling for the dire necessity to resolve the issue and bring positive results to the families of the missing.
