NNA - French Deputy Alain Marceau, representing French citizens residing outside France, namely in Africa and Middle Eastern countries, including Lebanon, has announced his intention to visit Beirut on October 23, in order to partake in the 30th commemoration of the 58 French Paratroopers who were killed in the bombing attack on their headquarters in Bir Hassan.
"I'll be with a number of my fellow parliamentarians in Beirut on October 23, 2013, to mark the 30th commemoration of the attack which took the lives of 58 paratroopers," said Marceau in a statement issued Thursday evening.
"In my capacity as Deputy of French citizens based outside of France, I wish to stress, alongside my colleagues and a number of our fellow nationals, our attachment to cherished fighters, motivated to execute operations in the service of France abroad," said Marceau. He added that the move is also intended as a tribute to those who have fallen as a result of terrorist attacks.
