NNA - The Vice-President of the Islamic Shiite Supreme Council, Sheikh Abdel Amir Qabalan, said Sunday that the tragedy of ferry which sunk in Indonesia should prompt Lebanese officials to save the country's fate from the unknown.
Qabalan called on the state to mobilize its services to retrieve the bodies of the victims and repatriate survivors of the ferry which was heading to Australia.
He offered his condolences to relatives of the victims "who were forced to seek asylum in search of a decent and stable life."
In another security event which left five dead in Baalbek yesterday, Qabalan expressed deep sadness that brothers were confronting each other violently, calling for vigilance in the face of discord among the Lebanese.
"The Lebanese army is a guarantee for the security and stability of Lebanon. We call on political parties to ensure adequate climate to implement a security plan over all Lebanese regions," he added.
Qabalan concluded by stressing the importance of the establishment of a government encompassing all the components of the Lebanese people. This government would assume all responsibilities and would protect the country from slipping into peril of discord.
