NNA - Deputy House Speaker, Farid Makari, said Sunday to Radio Orient that March 14 can no longer stand for the triad of people, army and resistance as the only interest of Lebanon is within neutrality and Baabda Declaration.



Baabda Declaration has brought all factions together, and those who reject it do so because it opposes their political choices, according to Makari.



"Hezbollah wants a government that allows it to continue with its involvement in Syria. And if Hezbollah went to Syria with an Iranian decision, Baabda Declaration will bring it back to Lebanon with a Lebanese decision."



Makari lauded the initiative of Speaker Nabih Berri, whom he described as constantly seeking a solution to Lebanon's problems. However, he asserted that any initiative that did not fall under the constitution was not a viable one.



VP to Hezbollah's Secretary General, Sheikh Naiim Qassem, recently accused March 14 Camp of seeking a farm rather than a cabinet that could be run by a regional state. Makari remarked that the "farm is in auto-security, in a paralyzed cabinet that hinders its own self, and in Hezbollah obeying Iran's orders and getting involved in the Syrian war as well as in security operations around the world."



Talk of extending mandate of President Michel Sleiman has surfaced in the media lately. The Speaker VP did not confirm this; nevertheless, he contended that under current circumstances things do not look positive for new presidential elections.



Makari concluded with a comment on regional events, calling on Christians of the East to hold on to their roots and be part of the new democracies that were bound to emerge in their countries.



"In Egypt, as in Syria, it has become apparent that Muslims deplore fanaticism and reject it as much as Christians do. The train of change is passing through the region and Christians must not hide or run, they should hop on the train...which will eventually lead to democracy."
