NNA - The spokesman of the UNIFIL, Andrea Tenenti, said on Sunday that the main point of UN Resolution 1701 was the cessation of hostilities, noting that both parties were responsible to comply with this.



He explained that the "main purpose of the deployment of UNIFIL is to help the parties to cease hostilities," adding that if a radical change in the situation occurred on the ground, the UN Security Council would be the only side capable of addressing the issue.


"UNIFIL focuses its immediate efforts to assist the parties to restore commitment to the cessation of hostilities. The UN force will continue its work according to its mandate under the shadow of the current situation, according to the 1701 resolution."
